SPECIFICATIONS OF CONSUMER PACKS
A Flexible Pouches : ( 500 grams, 1 kg and 2 kg )
Material of Pouch : Laminate of polyester/LDPE
LDPE - 50 micron
The material shall be either extrusion laminated, or in the case of adhesive lamination, food grade, odour free adhesive should be used.
Type of Pouch : a) Pillow Pouch or
b) Side gusseted pouch
Dimensions of pouch : As indicated in Annexure I – A.
Bond Strength : 250 gm /15 mm (minimum)

Note :
1 . While the above is indicative type of laminate that is recommended, any other flexible film or laminate comparable to the the barrier, strength and printing properties and low temperature stability of the above laminate would also be accepted.
2 . Tolerance
a) Permissiable lower level
Polyester film ( -5% ) (minus 5 percent )
Polyethylene film ( -10 % ) ( minus 10 percent )
b) Upper Level
A higher specification ( positive tolerance ) always could be
acceptable, but however should not lead to high rigidity, flex
crack,,reduced bond strength or seal strength. A higher
specification may add to the cost.
3. The laminate material could be transparent/opaque/coloured as per the
requirements of the importer.
4.. All the materials used shall be of food grade and pass the prescribed
Indian standard/standards if any and as demanded by the importing
countries.
5. Printing requirements shall conform to as prescribed by the importing
countries.
6. General observations :
a) The pouches shall be clean and without any specs.
b) The pouches shall be 3 sides or 4 sides sealed, or gusseted.
c) The seal width shall be minimum 5 mm, particularly the top seal (for filled pouches ).
d) The pouches shall be either reverse or surface printed. In the case of surface print, the print shall be compatible with the product and shall not lift or smudge. The print shall be legible and easy to read.

b) Thickness tolerance – (Upper Level)
A higher specification (positive tolerance) always could be acceptable. However, it should not lead to high rigidity, flex crack, reduced bond strength or seal strength. A higher specification may also add to the cost.
(3) The laminate / co-extruded film could be transparent/opaque/coloured
as per the requirement of the importer.
(4) All the materials used shall be of food grade quality and pass the
prescribed Indian Standards / Standards if any, and, as demanded by
the importing countries.
(5) Labelling and printing requirements shall conform to as prescribed by
the importing country.
(6) General requirements :
a) The pouches shall be clean and without specs.
b) The pouches shall be 3 sides or 4 sides sealed.
c) The seal width shall be minimum 5 mm, particularly the top seal
(for filled pouches).
d) The pouches shall be either reverse or surface printed. In the case of
surface print, the print shall be compatible with the product and shall
not lift or smudge . The print shall be legible and easy to read.
e) The pouch shall not fail either on the body or along the seals when
subjected to normal drop tests.
f) All the pouches should be flushed with nitrogen gas at the time of
sealing to retain the freshness of the product.
